DONAVEN (He/THEY)

ARTIST BIO

Denver, Colorado

Donaven is a queer indie-pop and melodic bass singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Denver, Colorado, crafting emotionally immersive music that lives at the intersection of vulnerability, catharsis, and connection.

With over 3 million streams on Spotify, Donaven’s musical journey began at age 13, sharing covers and original songs on YouTube and SoundCloud. While his covers often draw listeners in, it's his original work that leaves a lasting imprint—songs rooted in lived experience, emotional honesty, and an unmistakable point of view. His presence is both bold and deeply empathic, inviting listeners not just to hear the music, but to feel seen within it.

Genre has never been a limitation for Donaven. Pulling freely from bubblegum pop, electronic and melodic bass, alternative, and even metal influences, he thrives in creative contrast. This genre-fluid approach allows him to build songs that feel expansive yet intimate, polished yet raw. Fans and collaborators alike are drawn to his unfiltered writing style and emotionally charged performances, where authenticity is never sacrificed for accessibility.

In December 2018, Donaven formally stepped into the EDM world with the release of “Superhuman,” a collaboration with Guatemalan artist and producer mISHØ under Frequency Music. Since then, he has worked with producers, artists, and labels across the globe, contributing toplines and vocals to emotionally driven melodic bass and electronic pop records. His music has received support from labels and promoters including Airwave Music, Tribal Trap, Future Bass Records, Dubstep N Trap, Shake Music, Maron Music, Bass Rebels, and Tunemunk Records.

In early 2022, his song “Permanent” was featured on Spotify’s editorial playlist Electro Mix, marking a pivotal milestone in his career.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Ed Sheeran, James Arthur, Melanie Martinez, Jonny Craig, and Demi Lovato, Donaven's lyricism explores the human condition through the lens of trauma, addiction, recovery, hope, and self-reclamation. His vocals are instinctive and emotionally dynamic, designed not merely to entertain, but to create resonance—music as a mirror, a release, and a reminder that no one is alone in their becoming.

"meet the beast," Donaven's debut EP—a deeply personal project centered on battling addiction, navigating recovery, and learning to love the most fractured parts of himself—is scheduled to release on July 17, marking the beginning of a new era. This upcoming era is one rooted in truth, healing, and radical self-honesty, along with an embracing of melodic bass as Donaven's sonic home.

Donaven is currently in production of his first album, anticipated late 2027.
